The Romeo, Mich. native, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, performed at halftime of a game the Lions led 21-14 at the break.
Kid Rock performed " Detroit , Michigan, a song on his new "Rebel Soul" album.
The album was released Monday.
Kid Rock arrived on the circular-shaped Ford Field stage - on the 50-yard line - at 2:16 p.m. p.m. Thursday, wearing a silver jumpsuit with black stripes on the side, shades and Lions-blue colored hat.
He was accompanied by his Twisted Brown Trucker Band; members also wore silver jumpsuits.
Hundreds of children danced around the stage before Kid Rock and his band ditched the jumpsuits and revealed Lions-blue colored jackets, black pants and white dress shirts.
The performance included a cameo from a man, wearing a shirt that read "Flaslight2013.com," who appeared to be George Clinton, of George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars fame.
The website includes an image from Kid Rock's halftime show of the man who appears to be Clinton, but doesn't identify him as so.
But the website does mention Funkadelic and P-Funk history tied to Clinton's music catalog.
A video montage of Detroit music legends was displayed also on Ford Field video screens during Kid Rock's song.
