The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are the first team from their state to make it to the NCAA Tournament, thanks to their automatic berth from winning the Summit League tourney. There's plenty more to be done, however, as the team patiently waits on Selection Sunday to find out which seed they'll receive.
Head coach Scott Nagy talked to the Argus Leader and, while he's holding out hope the Jackrabbits might get a coveted 12 seed, it seems South Dakota State will be given a 13 seed.
"I feel pretty strong about being able to get a 13 seed," Nagy said. "We feel like if everything fell right, we might be able to get a 12."
Landing a 12 would be encouraging from a historical standpoint in that 36 teams seeded in that spot have pulled first-round upsets since 1985. That's 13 more than No. 13 seeds.
The Jackrabbits are led by St. Cloud, Minn., native Nate Wolters , meaning the majority of Minnesotans may as well get caught up with their story and jump on the bandwagon with the Minnesota Golden Gophers not playing in the Big Dance.
