Daniel Day Lewis is an English actor. He has both British and Irish citizenship. In My Left Foot movie (1989) he portrayed Christy Brown, and won Academy and BAFTA Award for Best Actor, while for his role as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood (2007) he also won Academy and BAFTA Award for Best Actor, plus Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Award. Meanwhile, his role as Bill The Butcher Cutting in Gangs of New York (2002) earned him the BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Daniel day Lewis is the son of British actress Jill Balcon and Anglo-Irish poet Cecil Day-Lewis. Daniel day Lewis used to learn Acting at the British Old Vic. He is a method actor who is well known for his total dedication to and research for his roles. He often let himself remain in the character he plays in a movie during the shooting schedule, and sometimes it affects his health. In addition, he is also well known as one of the most selective actors in the film industry. Since 1997, he has starred only five movies up to now.

The Early Life of Daniel day Lewis Daniel day Lewis was born in London. He is the son of British actress Jill Balcon and Anglo-Irish poet Cecil Day-Lewis. His father was the United Kingdom s Poet Laureate. His mother s family was Jewish, who originated in the Baltics. His maternal grandfather, Sir Michael Balcon, was the head of Ealing Studios. Daniel day Lewis has an older sister namely Tamasin Day-Lewis, who became a documentary filmmaker and television chef.

Daniel day Lewis lived in middle-class Greenwich. He mastered the local accent, mannerisms, and credit that played important role for his career. Later in his life, Daniel day Lewis was known as a troublesome teenager who was often in trouble for shoplifting and other minor crimes.

In 1968, Daniel day Lewis parents sent him to the independent Sevenoaks School in Kent, as a boarder. In that school, Daniel day Lewis was introduced to his three most important interests, those are woodworking, acting, and fishing. After two years at Senovaks, he transferred to Bedales in Petersfield, in where his sister also studied. At age if 14, he had a film debut entitled Sunday Bloody Sunday. He portrayed a vandal in an inappropriate manner. He called this experience as heaven , which he paid 2 for vandalizing expensive cars parked outside his local church.

After he finished his study at Bidales, Daniel day Lewis had to make a career choice. He applied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and studied there for three years.

The Personal Life of Daniel day Lewis Daniel day Lewis rarely shares with public about his personal life. Once he had a relationship with French actress Isabelle Adjani and lasted for six years. They have a son Gabriel Day-Lewis, who was born in 1995 in New York after the relationship between Daniel day Lewis and Isabelle Adjani had ended. In 1996, Daniel day Lewis married with Rebecca Miller and have two sons, Ronan Cal Day-Lewis and Cashel Blake Day-Lewis.

Daniel day Lewis is a supporter of Millwall Football Club. On July 2010, he received an honorary doctorate in letters from the University of Bristol since he attended Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in his youth. Daniel day Lewis is an agnostic, which is similar with atheist.
